Cognis11+

Find the habits costing your child marks.

Your child talks through hard, unseen 11+ maths problems. We pinpoint where their reasoning breaks down, and tell you exactly what to fix.

The free sample is a preview, not a diagnosis. 3 questions to see the question style, how answering works and what a report looks like.

Full diagnostics from £29. No subscription. See a full example report

They talk. We listen.

  1. 1

    Read it aloud

Catches misconception of the question, like a skipped “not” or a misread condition.

  2. 2

    Explain the plan

Reveals how they structure a solution, and what they’re assuming before a number is written.

  3. 3

    Work it through

Shows whether the plan survives to the end, and whether they notice when it doesn’t.

We analyse what your child says, not how they say it. Audio isn’t stored.

Many patterns cost strong children marks.

  • Answers a different question from the one asked
  • Reaches for familiar methods before reading to the end
  • Assumes something the question never said
  • Falls for traps the question was designed to catch
  • Loses the thread halfway through a long problem
  • Doesn’t notice when an answer can’t possibly be right

A map of what to fix. Not another score.

Priorities, in order

What to work on first, and what can wait.

Not taught, or not thought through

A knowledge gap and a reasoning slip need different fixes. The report tells you which is which.

Tier 1–4 rating

The level at which your child’s reasoning holds up, from regional grammar to super-selective.

The evidence, word for word

Full transcripts behind every finding.

Progress you can see

Take another diagnostic later and the report compares them.

Hand it to your tutor on day one, or use it to steer revision at home.

Hard questions. No pressure.

No marks shown

Your child never sees a score. You decide what to share.

No clock

This is about reasoning, not speed.

Pause any time

Pick up where they left off, another day.

Who we are

Two London analytics professionals with primary-age children. We built Cognis11+ after a neighbour’s son missed out on his target schools despite leaning heavily on gamified practice apps: plenty of scores, no insight into how he was thinking.

Questions parents ask

Which diagnostic should we start with?

In Year 5, start with the Early Diagnostic. In Year 6, choose Elite, or Elite + Retest to see what’s changed before the exam.

What’s the free sample for?

Seeing how Cognis11+ works: the style of questions, how your child answers, and how a report is laid out. Three questions are too few to spot patterns, so treat it as a preview, not a diagnosis.

My child works things out in their head. Is that a problem?

No. A right answer with little explanation never counts against them. We analyse what they say, not how fluently they say it.

Could they have seen these questions before?

No. Every question is created for Cognis11+ and isn’t published anywhere else.

Does it cover verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and English?

It uses maths, because the logic is clear-cut. Habits like misreading and not checking tend to show up in other papers too, but we haven’t measured that, so treat them as things to watch for.

What can’t it tell me?

How your child copes under time pressure (timed papers do that), or what will happen on the day. It’s a snapshot of how they reason, and a map of what to work on.
